Visit to Little Pomona Cidery
On Thursday 18th September 2025 nine Pershore Civic Society members travelled to Bromyard in Herefordshire to enjoy a lovely visit to Little Pomona Cidery, where they were warmly welcomed for a guided tour. The group began with a walk through the orchards, learning about the heritage apple varieties and the sustainable practices used to nurture them. From there, they were shown the cider-making process, gaining fascinating insights into the craft: from pressing to fermentation and careful blending. James, the founder and owner, told how he had become a cider maker after 20 years in the wine trade in London, settling into this traditional cider production area. The passion and expertise of the team at Little Pomona became clear as the tour progressed, offering a deeper appreciation of traditional cider making. The team at Little Pomona produce a quality high-apple-content cider. This was sampled in generous tastings as the story unfolded and as James explained and demonstrated the process with his gleaming modern equipment.
To round off the visit, the group gathered for a delightful cheese and cider pairing. Each carefully chosen cider was matched with local cheeses, highlighting complementary flavours and demonstrating the versatility of artisan cider. The combination of education, craftsmanship, and convivial hospitality made for a highly enjoyable and informative afternoon.
